The American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers is a national association that offers bookkeeping help, resources and keeps you up to date on the latest news in the field of bookkeeping for a low annual membership fee. In addition, they offer a bookkeeper certification program.

National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers

The National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers annual membership benefits are bookkeeping news and helpful tips as well as help with bookkeeping software, Quickbooks and Excel. In addition, they offer tips on marketing and running a successful bookkeeping company. They also offer a bookkeeping certification program.

National Bookkeepers Association

The National Bookkeepers Association is is the sister organization of the National Association of Ceritified Public Bookkeepers and is more helpful to those who are looking to get a bookkeeping job, or already have a bookkeeping job and want to update their skills. This is different from the NACPB that caters to bookkeeping companies.

Schaum's Outline of Principles of Accounting

A friend of mine gave me a copy of Schaum's Outline of Principles of Accounting I (Schaum's) when I first started learning to be a bookkeeper at seventeen. Wow I can't believe that was more than a decade ago! It really helped me understand bookkeeping and accounting concepts.
