QuickBooks Basics
There are four parts of QuickBooks that you will probably use on a regular basis for your business financial transactions.
1) QuickBooks Customer Manager
This is what you use for projects like invoicing your customers, keeping track of projects, inventory and calculating how much jobs cost you versus how much they make you.
How you use this feature can be as complicated or as simple as you need it to be. Here are some tips on how to customize the customer manager for your business.
2) QuickBooks Vendor Manager
This is where you keep track of what you owe your vendors, pay bills and write checks. Some people prefer to use the bill pay feature and write checks when they are ready, but you don't have to do it like this. You can go directly to writing checks, print them out and mail them to your vendors.
Here are some tips on using QuickBooks bill pay feature.

3) QuickBooks Employee Manager
If you want to calculate your own payroll, keep track of and file payroll taxes, QuickBooks will help you do this. They have several plans, from calculating your own payroll to helping you with your payroll.
However, if you have a small payroll, an outside payroll processing company may be more beneficial to you.
Here are some tips to help you figure out the best way to use QuickBooks to process payroll for your company.
4) QuickBooks Banking
This is where you will write checks, enter deposits and reconcile your bank statements. If you use a company credit card, you will also enter your credit card transactions here.
QuickBooks Reports
Here are some tips on how to create useful QuickBooks reports for anything from financial statements to an itemized report of what your customers owe you.
Helpful Features in QuickBooks
One of my favorite features is the QuickBooks preferences. This allows you to customize the way you want to do things like write checks. For example, you can "automatically recall last transaction" so that when you go to write a check to a vendor, it fills in the details based on the last check you wrote to this vendor, thus saving you time.
Here are some tips on more helpful features in QuickBooks and how to use them.
