Work from Home Bookkeeping Job
Before you consider a work from home bookkeeping job, let's take a look at whether this will benefit you and your employer.
More and more businesses today are allowing their employees to work from home. It saves the companies on office supplies, equipment and space and it sometimes increases moral by giving employees more flexibility.
But before you agree to something like this, note that it is not without it's downsides. Some of the downsides of a work from home bookkeeping job are:
1) If you enjoy social interaction, you will likely miss the adult company that comes with being in an office.
At first you may jump at the opportunity to be away from your annoying colleagues. But given time, you will probably grow to miss them. Working long hours at home can cause you to grow stir crazy and crave adult company.
If you get out a lot anyway, you will probably be fine, but consider whether going to work is a large part of your social interaction. If so, you may not want to put an end to that just yet, at least not without first considering how you will make up for this by adding other social interactions to your lifestyle.
2) If you are not a very organized and disciplined person, you will have a hard time getting things done.
If you were one of those people in school who saved everything for the last minute, studied right before a test, and stayed up all night writing a paper because it was due the next day, working from home may not be right for you.
It is important that you are very organized and have a lot of self-motivation and discipline in order to work from home.
Also, if you have a lot of clutter, it is hard to get anything done. It's important that you still treat it as a job by designating specific time and place to your work. And if you live with other people, they must respect this as well.
3) It can be hard to keep your job from taking over your home.
Continuing with the importance of having a specific time and place for your work, it's not just to make sure you get your work done, but also to make sure that your work doesn't take over your life.
It's nice when you go to work at a separate location to be able to leave it behind and come home. It's hard to leave your work behind when it is sitting in your home all the time.
You will need to make sure that you only designate the time and space to your work and then leave it behind and are still able to relax and enjoy yourself when you are not in that time and place.
