Tips for Moms Who Want to
Work at Home Bookkeeping

Home bookkeeping is especially nice for moms who need to work without being away from your kids. It can provide much needed flexibility and give you more valuable time with your kids.

It's definitely not easy though. It takes a special kind of person to be able to take care of kids and work from home at the same time. Here are some pointers to help you decide if this is right for you and to make the transition as easy as possible.

Is it important that you are there for every special moment or does absence make the heart grow fonder?

Once you get to meet that bundle of joy, the thought of leaving him or her and having to go back to work can sometimes be overwhelming. And they grow up so fast. Every moment they seem to be learning, growing and discovering something new. It can be heartbreaking to have to miss out on any of this special time.

But if you have to choose between quantity and quality time with your child, of course quality is always better. I'd rather spend a few great hours a day with my child than spend all day with him, but be completely frazzled and not even able to appreciate any of this special time.

Some things to consider when determining whether work from home bookkeeping is right for you or whether it is necessary that you go to a separate office to get your work done: are you good or can you see yourself becoming good at multi-tasking? Do you need to spend time in an office working separately from your kids in order to be the best mom when you are with your kids?

If you are undecided about what works best for you, read on about some of the pros and cons of being a work from home mom. If you have already decided that work from home bookkeeping is the best option for you, skip this section and scroll down to "Tips for Work from Home Bookkeeping Moms."

Benefits of Being a Work from Home Mom

1) Save money that you would have to spend on babysitting

2) More flexibility than if you were working in an office

3) Able to spend more time with your kids

4) Save time from commuting

Downside of Being a Work from Home Mom

1) It can be very hard to get anything done at all while taking care of kids.

2) It can be very stressful working with kids running around and making lots of noise...and kids are especially prone to such behavior around their mother.

3) Hard to find balance between your work life and your home life when it is all in the same place.

4) Your spouse or whoever is helping you take care of the kids often takes for granted the fact that you are working and need help with the kids so you can get your work done.

Tips for Work from Home Bookkeeping Moms

If you have decided that the benefits out way the downside and being a work from home bookkeeping mom is the best solution for you and your family, here are some tips on how to get your work done and keep your sanity while being a work from home mom.

1) Give Yourself a Break

First and foremost, make sure you give yourself extra time to get your work done and plenty of credit for the work you are doing, because you are amazing to be able to pull this off at all.

It takes a special kind of person to be able to balance taking care of kids and working from home. So know that it will be stressful at times, and cut yourself some slack.

2) Get Help, Even if It's Just for a Few Hours

Be sure your baby's daddy or whoever is helping you with the kids understands that you are working. Being home with the kids in and of itself is a big job, but working from home and taking care of the kids is a huge job. So make sure to get some support and ask for help.

Having your baby's daddy or someone that you trust come and take your kids for even a couple hours a day can make a huge difference.

3) More Ways to Get Help

You may consider getting a part-time babysitter, not necessarily for the whole time you are working but at least for a few hours a day so you can get a break and concentrate. Or maybe use that time to relax or go to the gym...or if you dare...do nothing at all. ;-)

If you don't have free help and you can't afford a babysitter, some other things to consider are finding play dates in your area.

If you don't know other moms, there are lots of ways to meet them: at the playground or now-a-days you can find local moms through internet social groups such as Cafe Mom. And if you're on Cafe Mom visit the group I just started.
