Before virtual bookkeeping, you either worked from your client's office or you visited your client's office, picked up a backup of the file and made sure that no one worked on the original until you returned and reloaded the file with your adjustments.



But with today's technology all that juggling is unnecessary.

Instead everyone can work on the same file, no matter their location and no one undoes anyone else's work. In addition, you and your client can look up any financial reports needed any time, from any place.

Just one thing to keep in mind though, if you and your client have access to the same file. If your client does not have bookkeeping experience, better to give them read only access so they can look anything up whenever they need to without making any changes and ruining all your hard work.
